A NEW YEAR

It seems like only yesterday that we were looking forward to Christmas – New Year shut
down at work and the time that was going to be spent at home with family and friends,
and of course running a few reels of film.

Christmas is a family time, and this year was no exception. With seven grand children, all
who have been brought up knowing that Poppy is always happy to put on a film show,
this year was no exception, so the projectors were kept running on several days over the
holiday period.

Our grandkids have been brought up on a diet of Laurel & Hardy, Three Stooges, Charlie
Chaplin and a wide range of cartoons. They usually can’t remember the title, but can tell
me which film they want to watch, simply by relating the story line.

One realises how much kids absorb, when your eight year old grand daughter opens the
projection room door and with hands on hips, announces “ You’ve missed the change-
over again, poppy!” when I was screening a recent release 35mm print which had no
cues marked.
