NEWS FROM AMMPT
AMMPT Film Library Now Open
The Australian Museum of Motion Picture & Television (Inc.) have now officially
launched their 16mm film library, which was purchased last year from the State Film
Library. Film team members are still culling nearly 6000 films to sort out a
manageable amount of interesting titles to be gradually included in a catalogue which
will be available to AMMPT members. Prints not required for the library will be offered
to members for their own collections.
Film Carrying Cases
Included in the purchase of most of the State film Library collection was a large
quantity of fibre film despatch cases. Many of these are surplus to our requirements
and are offered to film societies and other not-for-profit bodies at no charge.
Commercial entities will be requested to make a donation to support AMMPT's
objectives. Recipients are to make their own freight arrangements.
Enquiries about membership, the film library and the despatch cases should be
directed to Graeme Lacey on 08 9275 6559.
GIRL SHY
A pristine 16mm film print of Harold Lloyd's 1924 silent film classic GIRL SHY has
"gone missing" after being taken by a Perth film collector who managed to access
AMMPT's new film library before strict borrowing conditions were formulated.
Despite attempts by the collector to locate the print, which runs for 80 minutes, efforts
to retrieve it have been unsuccessful. It is possible the collector may have
inadvertently included the print to be despatched with other titles to other collectors
or returning films to film libraries or societies. AMMPT is appealing to these people to
keep an eye out for the print and please advise if it is sighted. Graeme Lacey would
be pleased to elaborate on the matter if more information is required.
