Reel Deals – one month late?

Yes, that is correct. As mentioned in the last edition, Barb and I decided to have a
5 week holiday in the USA.

Our trip took us from Los Angeles to
Key West in the Florida Keys, about a
5000 Km road trip, and then the return
journey via a different route – at all
times being mindful of the threat of
tornados.

We managed to check out quite a
number of cinemas during our touring
around. A very depressing situation,
with many great looking cinemas sitting
there just waiting for a buyer or more likely the wrecker’s hammer.

I feel sure the costs involved with the impending change to digital projection, would
have been part of the reason why many of the cinemas have closed.

Not only have the cinemas closed due to the economic downturn, but whole shopping
centres, card sales yards, as well as numerous small businesses have been affected.

This was not the USA that I remember from our last trip. I guess we don’t know
how well off we are here at home!
