REEL DEALS

Will we be the last generation of collectors?
That thought has come about following conversations with a number of collectors over
the holidays. Collectors whose interests range across a wide variety of interests.
Just about all agree that the collections they have accumulated over the years are now
not as sought after, and would not bring the prices they paid for them some years ago.
Its easy to say that the younger generations aren't interested in history or accumulat-
ing ”old stuff”, but is there a bigger picture?
Has today’s “don’t get it fixed, just throw it away and get a new one” attitude created
a situation where nothing from the past is valued any more?
Have the world-wide on-line auctions, and the wide variety of stuff being offered been
the cause of reduced prices. Why is it that films and equipment sell for considerably
more in some countries compared to others (compare used films and equipment in the
UK to prices here).
Why is virtually impossible to sell used DVDs? Is it because they are so cheap to buy
new, that people cant be bothered trying to sell them.
I don't know the answers - maybe you do. Your thoughts are most welcome.
Best Regards
Mike
