Yes, the messy projection room on the front cover is mine. Shown is one
of my Kinoton FP20 35 mm projectors. These machines take 6000 ft
spools of film, giving a run time of about one hour per reel.
I generally only make up a feature onto the 6000 ft reels for special
occasions (or when I want to see the film with a minimum of interrup-
tions), as making up and breaking down a full feature (6-8 reels) is quite
a lot of work. Generally, I prefer to run the film on the usual 2000 ft reels
– after all, the change-over is the most interesting part of screening a
feature, as long as you don’t get too involved in the film!
The light source on both machines is a 1000 watt xenon lamp The third projector in use is an
EX6100 Eiki 16 mm pedestal cinema projector, it also uses a 1000 watt xenon lamp.
