Another great article in this issue by Kev Franzi.

Who would have thought that the humble splicer came in so many variations
and would be the making of another great article by Kev.

Further on there are details of a worrying find I had recently, when I
discovered a problem with a polyester based film - it seems that we have been
misinformed about the durability of that type of film base.

Yet another price rise from Australia Post
More bad news for those sending films by mail. Just as I was finishing this
issue, an email came in from Australia Post, it was headed
“Changes to standard retail rates”

Effective 1 July 2024, we will increase the price of the following products and services
as set out below:
3.5% weighted average for Domestic Parcel services
3.4% weighted average for International Parcel services
21% weighted average for Unaddressed Mail services
5% weighted average for International Letter services
4.7% for Mail Redirection and up to 5.4% for Mail Hold
Items 1, 2 and 4 are of concern - mostly item 1 for us. Adding another 3.5% to
the already high cost of posting within Australia will be another added cost for
us. With film prices declining, it is now getting to the point where the postage
cost is close to the price of the film.
And, if the past is any guide, the courier companies will take AP’s increase as
a cue to increasing their prices - its a no win!
