The MIDAS 9.5mm Camera – Projector (C.1935).

There were quite a number of these Camera-Projectors on the market in the
pre-war years. Although basically similar in functionality, cameras and
projectors have quite different requirements for produce their optimum
performance. The compromises required to combine both functions in the same
unit, usually meant that neither function really performed very well. The MIDAS
was perhaps the best of the units available at that time; the camera did a
reasonable job, but the projector lacked light output; its light source being a
small torch globe.

An REEL DEALS article is currently in preparation on the numerous camera –
projector combinations that were marketed over the years. This will be featured
in a future edition of RD.
