AUSTRALIAN MADE …..
With the manufacturing of electrical / mechanical products such as cameras, projectors
and accessories in Australia a thing of the past, (to say nothing of the people who had a
knowledge of them), it is essential that we record for the future, details of the products
that graced the shelves of the camera shops and equipment suppliers in the days when
you could walk in to a shop or supplier, obtain advise from someone who knew what
they were talking about and walk out with what you wanted.

Unfortunately those days are well behind us, but those of us old enough to remember,
recall the multitude of equipment on offer and in some cases drooling over the latest
projector or camera and wishing we could afford it.

There was a surprisingly large array of Australian made equipment produced, not only
for the professional cinema industry, but also for the home enthusiast.
Starting with this edition, we will include an “Australian made” page or pages as
required. I shall start it off this time with an item made by Harmour and Heath.
But please don’t leave it to me, please contribute, even if it’s only some pictures of what
you have. And don’t forget there were many manufacturers of accessories here; they are
just as important to record as the more ambitious offerings.

In the last edition thanks to John Lanser, we were able to record details of a little known
Australian made sound attachment for an 8mm Bell & Howell projector.

Hopefully this page will become a regular feature in each edition of Reel Deals.
