The Cinevox 8mm Projector
The Cinevox 16mm projectors were a common item back in the 1950s and 1960s – especially
those of us who were at school during that time, as they were one of the projectors of choice
on the Education Department’s approved list.

But a Cinevox 8mm projector is a different story. Until this photo arrived from Phil Hunter, I
had never seen one, or knew that Cinevox ventured into the 8mm field.

The operating control panel proudly shows the Cinevox logo and that the machine was made
by Precision Engineering Co. Pty. Ltd. Sydney Australia.

The projector has the basic operating controls – Motor – Lamp – Speed. The general design has
many similarities to the Cinevox 16mm machines, but despite the “vox” in the name it was a
silent machine.
