A RETURN TO THE OLD STUFF

This edition features the 1937 Pathé Vox 9.5mm sound projector.
This machine has some strange features, along with some other models in the Pathé
range. – But after 76 years, you can thread up a 9.5mm sound film and away you go.
Ok, the image is not as bright or sharp as a modern day video projector, but it still
operates!

This brings to mind a ‘little job· I have been doing recently – transferring Beta video
tapes to DVD. Despite being the preferred format of the TV station which archived
the programs onto the tapes; they no longer have an operational player for them.
Much the same can be said for VHS; although combined VHS players / DVD
recorders are still available, time and preferred formats move so fast in the
electronic recording world that it is only a matter of time before DVD and even Blu-
Ray are superseded.
