                   Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Super 8  ( 1965 to 2015 )

        Global  Super  8  Day,  2015  was  held
        around  the  world  to  celebrate  the  50 th
        anniversary  of  the  introduction  of  the
        Super 8 film gauge in 1965.

        The  50   Anniversary• event  more  that
        doubled the 40 screenings held for the

        40   anniversary  some  10  years  ago.
        This  year  there  was  a  total  of
        89•screenings,  with  good  support  from
        Clubs and groups•across the globe. Who
        said•Super 8 was dead?

                                            1.  Tony  Woods,  (Melb)  • An  Archival
                                            Object,  2003.  This  Genre  film,  shot  in
                                            Melbourne,  shows  the  majesty  of  city
                                            buildings.  A  look  at  glass  reflections  of
                                            amazing  proportions,  and  distortions  in-
                                            cludes  the  filmmaker's  reflection.  All  to
                                            music called “live” by Peter Ellis, on guitar
                                            and Phil Edwards on synthesizers. 15 mins

        2.  Moira  Joseph,  (Melb)  ”City  Walk”,
        1992.  This  film  is  the  ostensibly  a  docu-
        mentation  of  one  of  Melbourne’s  busiest
        intersections,  but  the  processing  and
        chemical inflicted on the film produce a 2 nd
        layer of grimy smog infused images which
        enhance  a  sense  of  chaos,  subjective
        urban anonymity and alienation.  3.5 mins

                                        3. Victoria Armatage, (Melb) “The end of re-
                                        gret begets nostalgia” 2014. An abstract line-
                                        ar film, exploring how regret over a fatal
                                        decision, ultimately leads to reflection and nos-
                                        talgia. 3 mins
