Editorial Comment
It seems like only yesterday that we were celebrating the start of yet another year. Now I am
working on the March edition of this magazine - which means we are one sixth of the way
through the year – already! I was once told that the older you get the faster time flies by – I
think I have to agree.
It’s interesting to see there is some interest film once again, both in the commercial field and
in the amateur ranks. It would be just about impossible to have missed the publicity about The
Hateful Eight, a new film with a limited release in 70 mm. Just a pity it was not a film that would
have appealed to a wider audience. A violent film with an “R” rating would automatically
reduce audience interest. By coincidence, Kodak have announced the release of a new Super 8
camera and film stock – more details inside.
Postage
This is the first edition of RD since the new postage arrangements. Not only is postage now
more expensive, but the service offered is slower, and judging by my recent experiences, also
pot luck! Don’t be surprised if this edition takes longer to get to you than previous editions, or
the delivery of your purchases take longer.
My recent experiences include having to send a magazine three time to a Sydney address,
despite the address being correct, it kept being returned to sender. A parcel of films completely
disappearing while in AP’s possession. A next day delivery envelope full pictures addressed to
a PO Box, doing the rounds between various post offices, despite the correct PO and post code
being shown.
No digital here
A number of comments have come my way recently regarding the films that I have been selling.
The comments are usually along the lines of “are you upgrading to digital”. Leaving aside the
ambiguity of the question, the answer is a firm no!
I have been selling the collections from two deceased estates. Both of which were uncata-
logued, so sorting, assessing and listing has been a major task, and is still on-going.
The Cinepix Home Cinema remains a digital free environment!
