More on the 9 x 9 day …
Celebrating the 95th Anniversary of 9.5 mm (1922-2017 )
The 9 x 9 day was held at two different loca-
tions this year. The event was split over two
weekend between Ed’s Giant Reel home cine-
ma in Melbourne, and Paul Dickinson’s Chil-
ternwood Cinema in Chiltern.

The organisers were pleased to welcome two
first-time visitors to 9x9 film processing work-
shop this year, Jack from Ballarat and Garry
from Brisbane.

Inside the Chilternwood Studio, lights were
low, as the 9x9 Festival and Home Movie Day
films were screened. People kept arriving be-
tween 2pm to 5pm, so we ended up showed
the festival films twice during the afternoon.
After processing, the film is dried by hair dryer
and is almost ready for projection.
Edward has two Pathé Gem projectors, both
modified and fitted with modern lamps.

At the session in Chiltern, a range of short
films made by UK and French 9.5 mm film-
makers were screened.
