The DeVry - Theatre in a Suitcase … More!
In the last edition of Reel Deals, we featured an article by John Fleming on the De Vry 35 mm
portable projector.
RD subscriber, Gary
Hartley has sent in
the picture below -
His fully restored De
Vry in original case,
with the original op-
erating instructions
still in the lid.
Gary has not only
restored the machine
to operation, but also
converted it to 240
volt operation by uti-
lising a sewing ma-
chine motor in place
of the original 110
volt motor.
Pathe 35 mm KOK
Gary has also restored an original 35 mm version of the the Pathe KOK projector. This one was
a wreck when he obtained it, with several parts missing. Gary had to make several parts to replace
those missing. The machine is now in working order.
Better know in its 28
mm version, the
Pathe KOK was first
manufactured in
1912, the KOK was
popular with schools,
both here and in other
countries, as they uti-
lised only safety film
and had a built in
generator to illumi-
nate the lamp - a pop-
ular feature with
many parts of the
country yet to be con-
nected to electricity.
