Editor’s Comment

The COVID-19 Pandemic has created a great many challenges for people
around the world. The Pandemic has been handled better in Australia than in
many other countries. Here in Victoria, as is well know, things got out of hand
and we saw the numbers of those infected rise rapidly. Thankfully at this time,
we are seeing a significant decrease in the daily infection numbers.

The need to stay at home and isolate as much as possible has thrown up a
number of challenges. Buying on-line has become a way of life for many people
now, which has created further issues with our often unreliable postal service.

We read in the papers of parcels posted from one Melbourne suburb to another
being sent via Sydney for sorting. Other cases where Australia Post claim to
have delivered items and claimed there was on one at home (despite claims to
the contrary by the resident) and then taking the item to the local post office for
collection.

But the prize for the best stuff up must go to the postman who claimed he called
at a house and there was no one home, so he left the parcel at the local post
office for collection. The only problem was the “local post office” was 800 km
from the persons address!
Where is all this raving leading to? Well, I am hoping this edition of RD will get
to you in good time. With so many variables in delivery times at present, I trust
if it doesn’t you will understand.

Incidentally, as RD is posted Print Post, a requirement is that all copies are
posted at the same time on the same day, so if a mate gets it before you, just
maybe your copy went via Darwin!
