Vale Joe Petranovic

It is with sadness that we report the death of Joe Petranovic. Joe was based in Sydney and was
well known for his skills in repairing and servicing film projectors of all types and sizes.
Many subscribers will have taken advantage of Joe’s skills over the years and will have fond
memories of him, not only for his repair service, but also for the friendly advise he often
provided.
Joe was heavily involved with the Sydney Film Festival, both as a life member and a valued
member of the festival board. His skills were used frequently in “keeping the show on the road”.

Joe’s skills, ability and friendship will be missed by all those who knew him, he takes with him
the knowledge he built up over many years and is a great loss to those who love the clatter of film
running through a projector.

Vale Len Grant

Len and his brother David (deceased) were based in the Newcastle area, and had been involved
in the commercial cinema industry before retiring. Both brothers had home cinemas, with Len’s
being somewhat unusual in that his projection room was set up so that the projectors could be
rotated by 180 degrees to screen onto either the indoor screen, or onto his large outdoor screen in
the warmer weather.
Both David and Len were long time subscribers to Reel Deals and had, over time, made many
friends in our hobby. Our condolences to Len’s family.
