Unfortunately, Australia Post’s delivery times vary considerably, especially in
distant locations. This is a major frustration for those effected, especially
when wanted items are snapped up quickly.

To try and off set the variability of delivery, I will now offer to those who
request it, a PDF copy of RD sent as an attachment via email. This will only
be available to those with a regular RD subscription. However, to give those
without email a fair go, the email copy will be sent three days after the
printed version is posted, hopefully that will even things out a bit for
everyone. It should be noted that due to file size limitations, the emailed
version will be of lower definition that the printed copy.
If you want to take advantage of the offer of an emailed version in addition
to the regular posted copy, you will have to email me and request it, as I have
found some of the email address I have are no longer valid.

        OVERSEAS SUBSCRIBERS
There have been changes to both the postage cost and the size/weight
categories, making overseas air mail now very expensive.

        NEW ZEALAND
The postage rate is now $9.30 per copy, making the postage alone for the four
issues $37.20. Add the printing cost and a year’s issues of RD now costs in
excess of $50.00 per year. Clearly the current rate of AU$25.00 is not viable.
Regrettably, I have no option but to increase the rate for New Zealand
subscribers to $50.00, even at that rate, we are absorbing a small loss.

        USA & UK
Again there have been major increases in postage to these two countries. The
air mail postage rate has increased to $12.90 per copy. However, Australia
post do offer a pre-paid envelope suitable to posting RD, at a flat rate of
$11.15. Even at that slightly reduced rate, the subscription would have to
increase to $60.00 per year, just to go close to covering costs.

Many overseas subscribers have been long-term supporters of RD, and most
are friends. So, what to do?
All current subscriptions will be honoured, but once they expire, you will have
your choice of paying for the printed issue as above, or opting for a PDF copy
sent as an email attachment. (See note above re quality).

A PDF subscription will cost AU$10.00 per year and will be emailed at the
same time RD is posted locally.

Your thoughts and suggestions are welcome. Mike Trickett
