DIN standard films and
equipment are quite
rare – especially here
in Australia. The Zeiss
Ikon illustrated is the
only example of that
format that I have come
across.
Note 1:
The Beta system was
introduced and promoted
(predominately) by Sony in
1975 and the Video Home
System (VHS) was the
brainchild of JVC /
Panasonic. Despite the
Beta system offering
slightly better picture
quality, the publicity
machine promoting the
VHS system won out.

Of course either system could play the other system’s
films – by projecting at 90 degrees to the screen and
reflecting the image in a mirror.
