        History

In January 1923, the Eastman Kodak Company demonstrated their new 16mm film
format to a few technical organisations in the USA.
The new Kodascope projector and the Cine-Kodak camera were previewed to the
trade in June 1923. The first advertisement for the new 16mm system appeared in the
                             th
New York Times on July 5 1923.
The Kodak 16mm home movie outfit contained everything required for making home
movies - camera, tripod, projector and screen. All for a price of US $ 335.00 ( a very
substantial amount in those days ).
One hundred feet of reversal 16mm black & white film - 4 minutes running time - sold
        for $6.00 including processing
        The Camera
The model ‘A’ Cine-Kodak camera was hand turned, hence the need for a tripod. An
optional bolt-on motor (not made by Kodak) became available a couple of years later.
Kodak’s second camera, the Model “B” had an internal clockwork motor.
