By the late 1920s, B&H were making this versatile model Filmo.
The Filmo design 70 so impressed the American newsreel cameramen that they requested the
B&H Company to “please make a 35mm version of the Filmo”.

Albert granted their wish in 1925 with the design 71 a 35mm “Eyemo” camera that was the first
spring powered professional camera for newsreel production. In WW2 it became the official
equipment for newsreel cameramen and was still being used in Hollywood studios in tight
camera spots 40 years later. I love my Eyemo – and my Filmos.
This was the beginning of the huge impact 16mm film was to have on the World. Hopefully –

The Saga of 16mm will continue in future issues of Reel Deals – but as I’m now in my 92 year
this could be my “Swan Song”.

The 35mm Eyemo camera became the “Work
Horse” of the News Reel Industry for the next half
        a century.
