Fix the lamp holder to a pair 10 mm stand-offs and fasten to the bracket.

So far, we have 25 x 80 x 100 bit of aluminium – with drilled and tapped holes – 80 mm
wide. Note that this has to be configured this way
up so as the allow for the the dowser.

You need to be careful in the getting the lamp
positioned accurately. The front edge of the lamp
should be 32 mm behind the film plane and
precisely on the centre line of gate. It will look
something like illustration on the right.

I made the holes slightly larger so that fine adjust-
ments could made to lamp alignment.

You can see the dowser spigot on the left of the
picture. It is made of mild steel and is drilled and
tapped both ends to affix the base and limit the
        travel of the dowser.

The dowser is made from thin aluminium. You
need be careful that it does not foul the shutter
and the protrusion of the bulb.

The dowser slides up and down by means of a hollow
tube affixed to the dowser. A handle is fitted to the top
of the dowser and protrudes from top of the lamp
        house.

        Lamp Specifications
HID 150 watt Lamp Acme Xenpow. About £60 from a
number of Internet suppliers. The HID150 watt is rat-
ed at 1000 hours and because of its design has no
filament, so has a great advantage over a halogen lamp. The colours are crisper and
the illumination is better than a 250 watt ELC lamp.
