OW observant are you of background details in a film
set-or of foreground details, come to that? P. A.
I-I Forge, chief engineer of the J. Arthur Rank Screen
Services television division, says that people are very obser-
vant of such things. He has been at Pinewood recently on
the set of "Simon and Laura", for the very reason that folks
are so eagle-eyed.

by the television cameras.
Muriel Box, directing, has been taking no chances of any
inaccuracies in the handling of the television equipment, and
Mr. Forge has been there to see that things are as they should
be. "People are getting knowledgeable about television tech-
niques, he says, "and it's important that the right lenses
should be used, and so on.
Forge, by the way, is a television pioneer: it was in 1928,
the period of the Baird experiments, that he began his career.
But he will tell you that he still envies the cinema its scope,
big sets and colour.
