•                ~~The Shooting  Match~~
          No  don't  reach  for  your  "six-shooters"  we're  not  going  into  competition  with
        Bisley  yet-we  merely  wish  to  draw  your  attention  to  the  Open  Award  1952.
          We have  always  endeavoured to  a!sist and  instruct the amateur in  the  correct
        use  of  his  or  her  cine  camera.  This  is  promoted  not  merely  from  the  obvious
        business  angle  of  selling  more  camera  film  but  because  we  believe  )hat  the
        customer who  obtains  the  maximum  enjoyment  from  the  use  of his  apparatus  is
        reward  enough  for  our  efforts.  Via  the  pages  of  this  journal  we  have  offered
        hints  and  tips  on  a  diversity  of  subjects  appertaining  to  cinematography.
        Scripting,  choice  of  emulsions,  angles,  lighting  -  all  these  subjects  have  been
        touched  upon.  Here  now  is  your  opportunity  to  put  your  knowledge  and  ex-
        perience  to the  test.  The  rules  for  this  contest are  few  and  simple  and  do  not
        debar anyone from taking  part- cine clubs  may also send in  entries.
        I.   All  entries must be made on  Pathescope stock.
        2.   The subject to be of your own  choosing.
        3.   The  film  should  not  have  been  entered for  any  previous  competition.
       4.   The  film  may  be any  length,  but for  preference  it should  be between 200ft.
           and  300ft.
        5.   Films should  be titled.
        6.   The  completed  film,  together  with  an  entry  form  from  the  Pathescope
            Monthly,  should  be  sent  by  registered  post  to  Pathescope  Ltd.  to  arrive
            between January  I st and January 31st,  1953.
        7.   Films  will  be  promptly  returned  when  judging  is  completed  in  February.
         The  following  awards  will  be  made  for  the  best  9.5  mm.  amateur  films
       submitted :-
             One  Large  Shield.  Two  Lesser  Shields.  Six  certificates of  Merit.
         Both  shields  and  certificates to  be  retained  by  the  successful  competitors.
           For the encouragement and  interest  of 9.5  mm.  users  copies  of  prize winning
       films  will  be  made  and  subject  to  the  owners  approval  will  be  freely  loaned  to
        Cine Clubs and similar bodies.
         The  rules  are simple  enough  aren't they !  What's that !  You  wish  to enter ?
       Well  here's  your  entry  form.  Fill  it  in  now  so  that  you  are  at  least  one  step
       forward  into the
