EXCITER LAMP REPLACEMENT : Unscrew the collar on the exciter lamp-
house boss and remove the lamphouse cover. Then pinch the lampshield so that the
pins disengage from the lamphouse locati.ng ring and withdraw the lam p and shield ..
NOTE : The shield may only be removed if it is required to clean the inner surface,
otherwise the shield need only be swung downwards to allow the new lamp to be
inserted. Replace the new lamp in the same position and allow the lamp holder to
come up and support the end of the bulb. Replace the cover and the locking collar ..
Align the new lamp, if necessary, fo r maximum sound output by means of the small
screw in the cent re of t he boss.

INDI CATOR LAMP REPLACEM ENT: Replacement of the two bulbs is easily
made by first withd rawing the mount ing clips. Ensu re t hat t he mou nting clip is pushed
right home after replacement. As stated before, the rati ngs of the two bulbs must be
               st rictly observed.

ALVE REPLACEMENT : Valves should be replaced accord ing to the ;·eplace-
ment chart on the inside of the projector. The valve complement varies with serial
numbers and it is important that valves of the correct type only be used.

MOTOR : The motor brushes will not requi re replacement for at least 18 to
24 months of no rmal use, and even the n are easy to replace. Unscrew t he brush-holder
caps and remove the old brushes. Clean away all accumu lated carbon dust and then
inse rt the ~ e w brushes. Before replacing t he caps, insert a strip of EXTRA FINE
glasspaper between the brush and t he comm utator, with the abrasive towards the
brush. Rotate the commutator by ·hand a few times-the idea to ai m at is to produce
a cu rved surface on the end of the brush that wi ll "bed" properly on the commutator.
Repeat with t he other brush and then remove the glasspape r and all acc umu lated dust.
If t he com mutator is dirty or discoloured, it may be cleaned with a clean rag moiste ned
with carbon tetrachloride. On no account use any abrasive. If t he comm utator is
pitted or scored it must be resurfaced on a lathe.

SERVICI NG : The mai ntenance of efficient performance is a measu re of the
conscientiousness wit h which regular inspect ion and checking of the projector is
carried out, and " prevention is better than cure" is no less true when applied to
projection ap paratus. The following fa ult chart, therefore, may be used eithe r as a
basis for routine ove rhaui, or for the t raci ng of faults as and when they occur.
