Lli ) 1-!;I'Catest illumination, as shown in Fig. 31, page 36. The ad-
.ittsLi ng screw can be reached easily through the opening near the
lloLLom of the lamp house cover 53.
The lamp furnished in the Kodascope is already a~j'tlsted , it

          plftcing with new lamps only.
                             Care of the Film
'I' l e pictures on a motion picture film are so small and are
llHl,gnified so enormously on projection that great care must be
<'Xcrcised at all times to prevent scratches or other markings from
cl:tmaging the film, because all such markings are very noticeable
ti ll Lhe screen, appearing in bad cases like snow or rain storms.
'I'll 'rc is no practic:tl method known for removing these defects
          111H:C Lhey arc formed.
'l'hc picture area of the film should never be handled in any
wny. Scratche: are generally caused by careless rewinding of the
Il l in. from "cinchin ·"it tightly on the reel, or from a dirty gate.
The film, if kept where the air is very dry, has a tendency to
I I<' eo me brittle. It is ad vi able, therefore, to store it in a cool
plnec where the air is fairly m.oist. Nevei· leave it for any length
of Lime near a radiator or hot air pipe. If by chance any of your
t'<'<'IS of film do beeome bri ttle, place the reel in a covered can or
j:t r in which you hav put a moist sponge. Leave the film in the
''il,tt for twenty-four hours and its flexibility will be restored. Care
Mliould be taken that no water comes in contact with the film.
The best and mo t conv -nient way to keep the film in good
<;ondition is to place Lh reel of film in a humidor can which we
1111d especially for thi pu rpose. Full directions for using it are
in ·luded with each can .
                          Breakage of the Film
l f the film break during projection it may be caused by an im-
P .rf ct splice made previously in the film; the upper or lower
lo 1p was too small ; or the film may have been too dry and brittle.
If the film breaks it will back up and come out of the opening
in Lhe upper loop guide 20, Fig. 32, page 38. If this happens stop
l.h I odascope immediately by pushing the motor switch 33, Fig.
:1· , to the word " OFF." Turn the direction switch 31 to the
~ nrd "REVERSE" and push the motor switch 33 to the word
          11
0 ," until the upper part of the film is wound onto the upper or
t l pply reel, then stop the motor.
