Place the empty take-up reel 13 on the take-up ~:~ pindl e 14, as
shown in Fig. 16. Push in the take-up reel until tho Hpring on the
spindle snaps into position. This spring keeps the rec•l from slip-
ping off the spindle. When using the self-thread i np; feature it is
necessary to use a 400-foot empty reel as a take-ll p reel, do not
use a small 100-foot empty reel for this purpose.
Close the two reel threading arms 10 and 11, ilw Hpring catch
12, Fig. 16, will lock them in the position shown i11 Ji'i ~. 17.
The flanges of the take-up reel must be straighL. Bcvolve the
reel a few times and if the reel threading arms strike or rub against
the flanges, remove the reel and straighten the flangPH hy bending
them with the fingers.
