FILMS FOR SALE MARCH 2024
16mm B /W FILMS FOR SALE:
"JANE EYRE" 1943. Brilliant best version of this
fabulous drama. There are a lot of fine actors in the cast,
and Orson Welles is ideal for the role of Rochester. Joan
Fontaine is good too as (the adult) Jane, and some
excellent casting, including Agnes Moorehead as Jane's
mean-spirited aunt, the icy Henry Daniell as
Brocklehurst, and 11 year old Elizabeth Taylor
(uncredited) as Jane's school friend Helen. $90.00
“RATIONING” 1944 . MGM teamed Wallace Beery
and Marjorie Main for a nice comedy about Rationing
during the World War II home front years. The two are
bitter enemies since the first war when fate kept them
apart. But now they have a son and daughter
respectively who are taking up where the parents might
have left off. $40.00
“THE VILLAIN STILL PURSUED HER” 1940. This is a solid, if often silly, parody
feature that spoofs the conventional melodrama played in a style that is far from subtle.
Buster Keaton, Hugh Herbert and a host of the great old comedians. $40.00.
"BEAT THE DEVIL" A comedy played straight of this groups general screen
acceptance. This 1953 film had absolutely everything going for it, including Humphrey
Bogart, Jennifer Jones, Gina Lollabrigida, Peter Lorre, Robert Morley, directed by John
Huston with a screenplay by Truman Capote. What more could you ask for? $80.00
“THE FOXES OF HARROW” 1947 drama, Rex Harrison, Maureen O’Hara, Richard
Haydn. Stars: Rex Harrison, Maureen O'Hara, Richard Haydn. In pre-Civil War,
Louisiana, a roguish Irish gambler (Harrison) buys his way into society, something he
couldn’t do in his homeland because he is illegitimate. $60.00.
"FOLLY TO BE WISE" 1952 comedy. If you like EALING COMEDIES then this is
right up your alley. Alistair Sim is a Chaplain who walks into natural disasters of the
'putting your foot in it' kind. Whether it be with 4 old ladies who sing horribly, a giddy
society lady who is 'out of it', and many other assorted characters. The backing cast of
these eccentrics are full on. $40.00.
“THE KEYS OF THE KINGDOM” 1944 drama, an outstanding film which accounted
for Gregory Peck’s first Oscar nomination. Backed by a great cast- Thomas Mitchell,
Edmund Gwenn, Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Vincent Price, Rosa Stradner and Roddy
McDowell. $50.00.
